Unknown Device

Question

Hi Guys,

I added one of our servers via SNMP which was successful but NPM doesn't seem to be able to get any details from the server.  It is listed as unknown and I can't get an OID from it.

It is an IBM box running Windows 2000 Server.  Don't seem to have any issues with other Windows 2000 boxes.

MarieB - I want to try and avoid adding custom pollers as its just a regular Windows 2000 box, just seems really strange that I am unable to get any details from it.

pyro13g - I have checked the security tab but everything seems fine, I have a community name with correct rights and I am only accepting SNMP packets from my SolarWinds box.

Check the security tab for the SNMP Service in windows

Hi James--

Have you tried building a custom poller for your device?

To do that, consult Chapter 16 of the Orion NPM Administrator Guide or see the online guide at:

Also, you can add the device to the Unknown devices post.
