NPM Stops collecting data - needs services restart

My NPM has recently began stopping data collection randomly. I can restart it by stopping and restarting all the services, but it'll only stop again after a few hours to days.

I've updated to SP3 and looked at some of the database settings I found here online (i.e. SQL user default language), but it's not solve the issue.

Now when I try to open system manager, I get the following error:

Hi,

You can give a try to these steps to resolve this issue.

1. Stop all Orion services

2. Navigate to Start->All Programs->SolarWinds Orion->Advanced Features and launch the application called Monitor Polling Engines. You may get informational messages but this is OK as long as your services are already stopped.

3. From the toolbar across the top of the screen, find the icon that is a picture of a silver box next to a red box, the tooltip says Poller Load Balancing. Click this icon. You may get one or more informational messages.

4. Select the top node in the list. Scroll to the bottom. Hold down shift and select the last node in the list. This will select all of your nodes.

5. Find the Polling Engines pull-down menu (next to the File pull-down menu at the very top of the window). Select it choose "Move selected Nodes to" then select the name of your polling engine. Even if you are assigning all your nodes to the same polling engine, do this anyway.

6. Click Done, close all windows and open the System Manager.

As suggested by Brandon, if these steps do not resolve your situation please create an online ticket to ask for help from Technical Support.

NOTICE: If you did not stop your services before you made the change, then your changes will be undone when you click the Done button. Be sure your services are stopped before you reassign your nodes.

I'm going to let things sit for a few hours and see if the data collection stops again.

Well, it worked for a while, but it stopped collecting data at about 5:30 this AM.

I opened the system manager (actually, I connected to the server, but it was already open) there were no nodes listed in the system manager at all.

All the services appear to be running. When I closed and re-opened the service manager, I got the same error as above.

I had used the Orion Service Manager to Shutdown Everything yesterday, so I don't know what I could be missing.

I've opened a ticket, but wanted to update here as I see things.

I've noticed that the polling engine is stopped. I restarted just the NPM service and that, of course, started the polling engine again. I assume that this will start data collection again temporarily, but an unsure why he polling engine will shut itself down.
