SQL 2005 Monitoring

We just purchased APM and I'm already having a minor issue getting an app monitor to work. I'm trying to set up monitoring on our Orion DB server and I'm getting some failed login errors. SQL is returning an error even though the account has sysadmin privileges and is assigned as a dbowner on all databases. The 'SQLServer:Buffer Manager' counters are all failing with 'Login failed for user xxxxxx'. I'm pretty sure it's a simple fix, but I searched and could not find the answer in the forums.

Argh. True to fashion, three hours after searching and only two minutes after posting, I figure out the problem. The template uses SQL authentication, but I am using Windows authentication. I just made a copy of the default SQL template and changed its properties to use Windows authentication and now it appears to work.

That is very odd. I am monitoring my SQL server with no issue. When you use the exact same credentials in SQL Manager Express does it work?

Bleearg, I'll call this out in the docs, and hopefully the next person to run into this problem will be able to continue quicker.

I'll also check with dev to see if there is a good reason not to implement the authorization with a fail-over mode (if SQL cred fails, try as Windows Auth) and get rid of the check box altogether.
