Add Nagios plugin messge to Solarwinds alert email

Hello all.

I am brand-new to Solarwinds monitoring, so please be gentle.

I am migrating some Nagios checks to Solarwinds using the Nagios Script Monitor type.  What I would like is to have the message the Nagios script writes to sysout (the script is running on Linux) included as part of the alert email.  I talked to support yesterday, and was told that there no defined variables that would allow me to do that.

Has anyone else had this requirement and found a solution?

Contrary to what the Solarwinds support person said, the message echo'ed by a Nagios plugin appears in this variable: ${N=SwisEntity;M=ComponentAlert.ComponentMessage}.

However, for some reason, that variable contains two copies of the echo'ed text, one appended after the other. So, you can trim it down to the original message using this query:

${N=SWQL;M=SELECT SUBSTRING(a.ErrorMessage, 1, length(a.ErrorMessage) / 2) as message from orion.apm.currentstatistics a
where a.applicationid = ${N=SwisEntity;M=Application.ApplicationID} and a.componentid = ${N=SwisEntity;M=ComponentID}
