Unable to restore DB

Hi,

I've seen many posts about other IT guys trying to setup an upgraded replacement server for Orion.

Everytime I try to restore the database, it works fine. But for some reason after the web configurator runs, it doesn't show ANY data.

What am I doing wrong? All the links to 'solutions' come up dead in this forum.

Any old links must be changed to www4.[link].

Basically you must change the polling engine ID number in the DB.
You can use the Polling Engine Load balancer add-on to do this, or update the DB directly.

Are you not seeing data "at all" or are you just not seeing any devices in your node tree from within system manager?

I had a minor issue when I restored my database to a machine with a different name...I had to go into my pollers and tell them to use the new poller on the new server instead of the old box name...I'm assuming this gets stored in the database. Once I swithced this, everything showed up in the node tree again, and things returned to normal.

I realize that this is an old thread, but I just ran into this situation myself.

One question, though. You said that you had to "go into your pollers to tell them to use the new server".

Did you mean that you had to go to the "Engines" table in the database and change the Server Name in in order to restore the node tree to working order?
