is anyone monitoring network storage devices like EMC Clariion CX4?
thanks,
LC
I am trying to monitor the CX3. It looks like the MIB's are not loaded on Orion. I found the documenation where to enable SNMP on the CX3 series.
@gbrance
Can you tell me where you found that documentation? If you found it on powerlink, what is the document number?
I have the Document saved locally and it shows H537_3_manage_clariion_snmp_wp_ldv.pdf .
You will want to look at the section talking about FibreAlliance MIB subagent which will show you where to turn on SNMP on your SAN. I hope this helps.
we're about to purchase the CX4.
we want to use Solarwinds to monitor it's performance rather than their proprietary analyzer.
Hey SOLARWINDS MODERATOR - do you folks partner with someone like EMC to get your products to work together?
Yes, we have partnerships with a wide variety of companies. I think the answer here is simpler. First, for the UnDP, you do NOT need the MIB to be in our database. If you have the OID for what you want to poll, just paste in the OID nad it'll work.Second, if you do have the MIB and want it in the database, open a Support ticket, and we'll get the MIB into our database within a week.
that's great ... thanks.
i'm interested in knowing how far you (gbrance) get with monitoring your CX3, especially if you plan on using Orion UnDP.
again, our primary interests will be making use of Solarwinds to monitor a CX4's performance.
Once you have it working, please post to the Content Sharing Zone here: thwack.com/.../default.aspx
Screenshots would be great of what you have working.
I don't have anything working. It looks like the MIB's are not loaded in Orion. I have the Storage Processor responding to SNMP queuries. It also looks like I need to get the compiled MIB's from Clariion Engineering which means I will need to open a suport case with Dell to get those MIB's. I am not to interested in the SAN, I am mostly interested in getting the Brocade switch setup in Orion so I can start polling some useful data.
