Monitoring device status with snmp not pings?

Question

icmp is blocked between some of our devices and solarwinds box. So we can't monitor them

using ping and they show up as dead. Can we setup to monitoring their status using snmp

or any other method?

You are correct, this is an open enhancement request we have defined in the system

I think I remember (though I could be wrong) an older post asking the same question.  I believe it's been added as a feature request.  I also like the idea.
