mysql alerting - can't figure it out

I have the mysql sam (mysql 5.7.9 or later) assigned to nodes and it's monitoring fine.  I want to add some alerts so I receive emails for some of the component monitors.

I am having a tough time trying to figure out how to add these alerts.  In the drop down for the trigger condition "I want to alert on", the mysql sam isn't listed at all.  How do I monitor on it if it isn't listed?
