Monitor Windows service status without thresholds?

Is there a way to monitor the up/down status of a Windows service *without* collecting stats on CPU/Physical Memory/Virtual Memory/IO etc.?  It seems like those additional pieces of information are baked into the "Windows Service monitor" and "Process Monitor - WMI" components.

If it is possible to poll the process status using SNMP, try to use the below component monitor and see if that works. Thanks.
