Layer 2 scan length in time

Question

We have over 400 subnets in use and with the 5 hour timeout for Network Sonar I realize I can't just put all of those into one scheduled discovery to keep the Layer 2 information current. Does anyone have a rough idea how long a /24 subnet takes to scan? I realize there are variables, number of switches etc, still just looking for a rule of thumb... thanks.

Yeah, the number of subnets doesn't matter that much.  I am scanning lots and lots of /24 subnets, probably a couple hundred.  The real time factor is how many switches are you scanning?

I am not sure how to guesstimate this.  As you said there are a lot of variables, latency, timeout values you set etc.
