OID used for disk drives / disk space on a system

Just curious what OID does Solarwinds use to list the available disks when you click "List Resources" , is it pulling through 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3
(.iso.org.dod.internet.mgmt.mib-2.host.hrStorageTable)? I guess same for the disks and disk information on a nodes properties?

It depends on the type of device, is this Windows, Linux etc?

So Solarwinds is set up to Identify the operating system of the device and use the appropriate OID? Using the previously mentioned OID with various tools I can see volumes on my Red Hat, Windows, and HPUX systems. Would just like to know which ones Solarwinds is looking for and how it determines what type they are.

Yes,very much true,that Solarwinds is programmed to identify the Operating System and use the appropriate OID.Answering to the question 'which ones Solarwinds is looking for and how it determines what type they are',here is a broad overview of it.

We have a MIB database which is programmed within NPM software.Every time a user adds a new node it is going to run a query in back end to find if this particular OID(sysObjectID) is in our database.If it matches,then the first stage is discovery.It discovers the device and when you start polling(which is the next stage) the device by selecting "Poll now" option in the GUI,it starts looking for all the information present in its OID subtree and start filling the database.This subtree is going to hold all the information of a particular device like the ones which you have mentioned the first thread.

If you could access the Orion Universal Device Poller,and select "New Universal Device Poller" option you could find a new pop up window.There you could select the option "Browse MIB tree".This page will give you an idea of how Solarwinds looks for and determines what type they are.
