msde 2 ms sql
Cygnuz
i'd like to migrate from a msde to a ms sql db. I think the steps would be:
1) backup msde db.
2) revove msde db.
3) install ms sql db.
4) restore the db from the backup!
Would it work in your opinion? any hints or comment would be appreciated!

Looks good Cygnuz.
You may have to run the Install Wizard again & point Orion to the new MS-SQL NetPerfMon DB. It will automatically setup DB permissions & passwords for the NPM poller & Web engine.

Thanks for your answer!
should this be step 3.5? so when I restore the db it should have all the table created with the right permissions. is it right?

I would just run through the 4 steps you have listed.
(First step is to stop all Orion services).
If Orion does not recognize the new DB, then run the DB install portion of the Install Wizard & point it to the new DB. (I'm no DBA, so I don't know if the MS SQL DB will be found & used by Orion after the upgrade). I've only ever used the Enterprise SQL.
