RD Session host - New user connection allowed/not allowed monitoring and alerting

Hello all,

My team and I are trying to figure out how to monitor and alert us when one of our RD Session Hosts gets set to not allow new connections.

I am referencing this portion of server manager on our connection broker. the screenshot shows 2 servers set to false which means they will not allow new connection from users. We only set this to false when a server is performing badly and when we work on them.

For the past couple weeks i have researched all i can to find what component actually handles what the above setting changes. Im not sure what to actually monitor.

If anyone has figured this out before please let me know otherwise any help is appreciated!

Some google research tells me that the status of "allow new connections" should be stored with this registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\WinStationsDisabled

It also looks like you could use a custom powershell script monitor or a custom WMI query component to pull the status of
\\root\CIMV2\TerminalServices PATH Win32_TerminalServiceSetting WHERE (__CLASS !="") CALL Logons

As i am new to how Solarwinds powershell scripting works,

Would you know a simple way to write the script to check this registry key?

I found this is the key that is either 0 or 2 depending on if it is allowing new connections or not.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\TSServerDrainMode

Basically if it is 0 than i want it to exit the script reporting UP status while if it is set to 2 then status is DOWN
