Monitoring ESXi 4.1 user vs. SNMP

I am new to the Virtualization Manager. What additional information will I gain by using SNMP versus a read-only user account logging into the host and reporting back?

Virtualization Manager doesn't use SNMP to collect data - it leverages the VMware APIs to collect data from vCenter or directly from ESX(i) hosts. Most of the important VMware data is only available via the VMware APIs today.

Thanks Jon. Thats kind of the impression I was getting by looking at what was already coming through via the API and couldnt figure out what I might be missing without SNMP.
