Muting Failures

So this just started today.....

Performing maintenance on nodes and we mute alerts, but the process failed (or so it says) but it will show as muted. When we try to unmute, the process failed and we cannot seem to get things back to normal. Anyone else having this issue?

OK, so here is what the issue turned out to be. DPA (Database Performance Analyzer) was installed on the same server as NPM. This will NOT work. Reason: Information Service is used by both applications but use different ports. So when a function is called upon NPM, the Information Service will not understand since the port is wrong (for NPM to compute). As soon as we removed DPA and all associated plug-ins/software and ran the configuration wizard, the issue resolved itself. No more issues. Now we know that if we choose to use DPA, it must be installed on a different server than NPM.

What error message are you getting?

Do you have DPA (Database Performance Analyzer) installed? if so can you open a support case?

I found the issue on the Customer Portal, which states to re-install the Information Service.

OK yeah, I saw that one but since it stated "Muting Alerts Failed" I was hesitant to send let me know if that corrects the issue.

That's good news that's why I had asked if you had DPA installed one of my earlier responses.

It wasn't actually "installed" any longer but the remnants of it being there before seems to have caused the problem in the end.
