I am running SAM 6.2.3 and need to try and figure out how to create subgroups in groups. My co-worker did it and I cannot figure out how. Its probably right under my nose. Any help is much appreciated!
SAM doesn't have a grouping concept beyond applying the same template to multiple nodes so I'm going to guess at a few different things that you could mean. If I get warm, let me know.
The All Applications Resource - click the Edit button in the corner to organize how your applications are displayed (default: application template and then node). Applying a template to a node (e.g., AppInsight for IIS) is what adds a new device under "AppInsight for IIS". You do that by going into Settings > SAM Settings > Manage Templates > choose the template you want > click 'Assign' and choose your device.
The All Groups Resource - in this case someone's created groups with application names (could have been anything - building names, locations, etc) and you want to get a device (or a subgroup) underneath one of these top level groups. In that case you'll want to go to Settings > Manage Groups > change the dropdown at the top from "All Groups" to "Root Level Groups" so it hides the subgroups beneath them > click "Add Group" to create the new subgroup you want > finally go back out to the Manage Groups page > select the group you want to place this new group into and choose "Add & Remove Objects" > find your new subgroup in the list and add it.
If I missed the mark let me know.
