File Existence Monitor

Hi,

Can anyone help with the following...

I have created a template by copying the File Existence template.  Our Finance department need us to check for when certain files are rejected; they end up in an 'Error' folder.  I've created the template successfully and the application monitor is green if a file 'does not exist', when a rejected file shows up in the 'Error' folder an alert is triggered.

So, this part is working however, I would like the alert to trigger every time a new rejected file arrives in the 'Error' folder, unless the previous file is deleted I don't receive another alert.  Also it would be great to know which variables to use in order for the alert to display the names of the errored files.  This would save our Finance team logging in regularly over the weekend to check that these files have not been rejected.

I hope that makes sense, any help or pointers to reading material would be much appreciated.

Thanks so much for your input, I think I might try using the File Count Monitor first as we definitely would like to know how many files are received into the 'Error' folder.  I would also like to try PowerShell Monitor, however I've written basic scripts before but think this might not be basic and I don't have a lot of time to get this working.

If I do use the File Count Monitor in conjunction with an alert can I get the alert to email every time the file count increases, this sounds feasible to me but don't want to spend time pursuing it if it's not feasible.

We have a workaround for the queries that you have posted

True that is the behavior of Orion SAM unless the file is not deleted the status is not set to GREEN on the monitor as a workaround you can play with your alert escalation mechanism.

OR you can use File Count monitor in conjunction with your File Existence Monitor or in Alert you can set an escalation mode which is time based (You can send out alerts unless the old files is deleted from the folder - this is just a workaround)

Also it would be great to know which variables to use in order for the alert to display the names of the errored files.

You cant do this with File Existence Monitor, there is no such variable that will print the file names, explore 'Windows Powershell Monitor'

Hi @anitazuri

Rather than File Existence Monitor you should explore 'Windows Powershell Monitor', you can customize the output the way you want to provided you can script or find a script which can pull that information for you.
