is it possible for SolarWinds will acquire or integration with some vendor that focusing on network analytic ?
or its possible to upgrade existing DPI to more intelligent ?

It is interesting the level of detail, visibility one can grab ‘off the wire’. Making it readable and actionable is a challenge for sure. Wire data analytics is a very flexible option and because it involves looking inside the packets and extracting crucial information, the granular detail very suitable for many network operational and security use cases.
We develop an application called LANGuardian. At its core it does deep packet inspection but it takes a much different approach to what NPM does with network packets. We take certain data from different layers like MAC addresses, IP addresses, application names, file names, usernames, website names, etc... You can download a trial and install as a physical or virtual server.
Last week I worked with a customer who had issues with slow WAN links. Drilling down we saw a lot of proxy traffic. Drilling down again we saw that two users were hogging the bandwidth. Drilling down again we saw that they were downloading some well known movies from the Internet. This was the smoking gun and they took immediate action. Earlier today I heard from another customer who used to system to root out a Conficker infected host, I thought that thing had gone away.
Is this the sort of intelligence that you mention? Would be interested to hear your views

look at the what we are working on for NTA module and you'll see better support for nbar- this is Cisco's DPI like tool and might bring some benefit over even DPI.
