AppBuilder Timeout

I'm trying to use the APM 2.0 AppBuilder to select WMI Performance Counters that I'd like to monitor. The trouble is whenever the AppBuilder tries to build the list of available WMI counters the process times out. I'm able to manually create WMI Performance Counters, as well as WMI Service Monitors for these same servers, but not using the AppBuilder. Any idea what the issue might be?

This is a known bug. The "job" submitted by the AppBuilder is just getting in line behind all the other jobs. In SP2, we will now give AppBuilder priorities a free pass to the head of the job line. SP2 should be out soon.

I'm not trying to thread jack here but is there any chance the false alarms coming from APM when an application is in an "Unknown" state will be addressed in SP2? I'm not sure what's causing the applications to periodically go into an "Unknown" state. It could be the polling cycle was missed due to high CPU usage, or even a delay updating the database due to DB maintenance and backup. Any which way, people are starting to lose faith in the monitoring solution. When they're being alerted that critical components are "down" they react. When they find nothing wrong, they begin to question the effectiveness of the monitoring solution.

This isn't very hard. If APM has no idea if an application is up/down, it shouldn't assume the application is down and alert. Unknown is just that, Unknown. Until it's been confirmed down no alert action should be taken. I thought Solarwinds was going to address this in APM 2.0

We did fix it in APM 2.0. It may be a different bug, or there may be something that we missed. I know you opened a ticket, but for other folks reading this thread, we're on top of it.
