NetPath - Setup requirements

Morning,

I have deployed NPM 12 in a test environment to show off its awesomeness to colleagues prior to upgrading. Having read the documentation and watched the videos it shows that you have no setup for this (other than actually setting up the service)

I have a probe deployed and utilising the built in "Google" service it appears to not be working. What do I need to do to get this setup? I have already opened the ports on the NPM server as described in the Admin Guide.

When I click on the end point (google) I get the error "No BGP This IP is routed internally. No external (BGP) advertisement exists."

And the 1 issue is "PercentPortClosed 100% is over the critical threshold 25%"

The issue is down to the server that netpath was installed on was Windows Server 2008, which isnt supported. That and the external firewall

Yeah I'm seeing this on a bunch of stuff too and I THINK I'm allowing all the right ports as well. Not sure if its a weird Proxy thing or a BGP advertisement or something else.

Most likely this is being caused by a proxy. You can try to use tracetcp and see if you get similar results.

the BGP thing is related to you permitting TCP/43 (whois) from your probe host (and your poller) to either everything or specifically the whois domains

Regarding the BGP, see this post: Re: NetPath Errors

You need to open access to the server for your locale to NetPath can look up the information about the external nodes.
