I can only get icmp onitoring on ucs blades. but not snmp. any idea why? The community string matches ucs but the testing fails.
Any chance you have a firewall rule (either on the UCS or between your poller and the UCS?
Any chance you have a restrict list in your SNMP settings so that SNMP polling is only permitted from certain hosts?
nope, thee is no firewall between npm and ucs blades. support said only icmp is supported on the ucs blades and snmp does not work. is that true?
Are you trying to pull SNMP info from the chassis or the actual OS of the blades? What OS are you running on the blades and is SNMP configured at the OS level?
ui am trying to pull snmp info from both. OS and chassis
I think Jon's going down the road of fans, ps, and list of blades is from fabric interconnect snmp but monitoring blades is dependent on OS having SNMP setup.
Yeah, as Blue said, you'll need to get SNMP configured for the actual chassis hardware and also WMI/SNMP setup at the OS level and poll both to get everything. For instance, a server would be added by IP address or hostname and the chassis itself would be added by it's IP address or hostname. If you're doing virtualization, you'll kind of have 3 setups - Chassis, Host, and the actual VM Guest OS.
