Alerts.NetObjects

Hi,
This array seems to be comprised of Nodes.NodeID, Interfaces.InterfaceID and Volume.VolumeID references. Is this correct?

Alerts.NetObjects: (example)
,8,470,3,1130,2,1140,1,1125,4,945,5,1230,958,

If so is there a field in a table that Im missing that tells me if an alert is an Interface alert, Node Alert or Volume Alert?
I have the code to break up the array into a temp table, but Im getting results I dont want. I think it is because Alerts.NetObjects isnt specific to Node,Interface or Volume.
For Example I have a NodeID that is 2 and an InterfaceID that is 2.

I was working on the exact same thing just last week.
I've found that the alerts are so complex now, that they are totally unmanageable.

I've created a report which tells me the configured alerts, the message sent format & to whom, but i'm trying to get a list of objects each alert is configured for.

I tried joining the alerts.netobjects column to the nodes.nodeID column, but found the same thing you did Ross. There must be another table we are missing, as even the Orion web site uses the netobject to view the node details.
However it uses 'N' for a Node & 'I' for an interface:

/netperfmon/view.asp?View=NodeDetails&NetObject=N:1151

Let me know if you come up with an answer for this....

The Alerts table contains all the configured Alerts. The piece that you are missing is the "PropertyID". Each Property is defined internally within NPM and assigned to a NetObject type (Node, Interface, etc). It's quite difficult to join the Alerts table to the Nodes or Interfaces table.

A new Alert Engine is in development at this time which completely replaces the existing Alert Engine. You will be able to assign alerts to groups of devices.... such as "all frame relay circuits in the New York area" or "All nodes with where CustomerID starts with AX*".

A pre-release copy should be available within the next couple months (maybe sooner) and will be a free upgrade to all Orion customers with an active maintenance contract.

Here are the Property IDs for the most commonly used set of Properties.

Also, be aware that the Version 8 Alert Engine does NOT use Property IDs. It uses the property names instead. Also, the new Alert Engine uses a different set of tables and a different mechanism to define Alerts. You will be able to use both Alert Engines in Orion Version 7; The current V7.8 and the new V8 Alert Engines. Within Orion Version 8, only the Alert Engine Version 8 will be supported.

After working on this code for my own work a couple months ago, my boss asked for a list of active alerts and what devices are alerted on. This SQL code proved very handy. Had the spreadsheet to him in 10 minutes.

This was written back in 2005, so I assume it doesn't work anymore I am not aware of anyone re-writing it, but you can check the content exchange for reports. What data are you looking to get out of the system?
