Appropriate Network monitoring software - Network Performace Monitor

Hi,

We are a small IT support company and looking for a product which if we can have installed on one of our laptop and then if we attach it to any LAN to get a complete overview, congestion, including potential issues with all network devices etc.

I would appreciate if you share your experience and advice correct product to choose.

Can you elaborate on your requirements? What are things are you interested in gather and monitoring. We have two products depending on your needs. ipMonitor and Orion NPM (network monitoring software), both of which can be download from solarwinds.com for free evaluations.

As networking support company, sometime new customers call us to find out issue related to their Local area network such as slow access during the day to the servers and internet, part of the network connected to a particular switch is working fine but computer connected to other switch in the building are getting slow access to share files from the server etc. We manually (by turning off part of network) find issues such as bottlenecks or network broadcast etc.

So looking for a solution which can help us provide network health.
