Anyone having issues with anti-virus updates altering NIC drivers and knocking servers off the network?

I'm seeing a pattern with Symantec Endpoint updates modifying the NIC drivers on servers and thus causing them to drop off the network temporary while the NIC driver changes.

Is anyone else seeing this event happen in Orion?

...Broadcom BCM5708C NetXtreme II GigE (NDIS VBD Client) - Teefer2 Miniport -- Interface Polling stopped. Could not remap interface. Check ifDescription change.

Yes, which is why we got rid of Symantec Endpoint Protection (or whatever they are calling it these days).

When the IDS portion of the client gets loaded, whether it is active or not, it loads a network shim that sits between the normal NIC drivers and the kernel...the Teefer2 miniport. If you don't want it loaded, don't install the IDS portion of the client. Most of the time this is a push install from the managed server.

It's pure evil.
