Universal Device Poller help

Hello,

I need to transform some numbers into text in the Orion UDP.

I have our HP servers temp showing under the node detailed screen:

I need the lable to show the text of 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 etc means. If I go onto the HP server these numbers represent:

0.1 = IO Board

0.2 = CPU

0.3 = CPU

0.4 = PSU

0.5 = System

Is there a way where I can convert this number to text?

Thanks. In point 8 do I enter the RAW Vlaues as one line or all on separate lines so:

0.1 = IO board

0.2 = CPU

etc?

Unfortunately I don't think there is a way to modify the value that is returned. I am guessing that there is an OID that maps those numbers to the actual sub-systems that they apply to as you have shown. You could add an additional poller and show it as a lagend. I realize this is sub-optimal but it may be your best option.

If there is a better way to do this I would also be interested because I ran up against the same problem with some of my UnDP charts and graphs.

I have been told that SW is working on making the UnDP charts and graphs more flexible with how you can display and label things as well as combining data from multiple sources so hopefully this type of thing will get addressed.

Unless I am misunderstanding your situation, you should be able to map those label values to text within the Universal Device Poller, as follows:

Click Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Universal Device Poller.
In the All Defined Pollers pane, select your HP poller.
In the main pane, next to the poller name, click Edit Properties.
On the Define Your Universal Device Poller window, Click + to Show Advanced Options.
For MIB Value Type, select Raw Value.
In the Format field, select Enumeration.
Click Map Values.
Enter Raw Values (0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, etc.) with corresponding Text Values (IO Board, CPU, CPU, PSU, System, etc.), and then click OK.
Click Finish.

Your values should now map in your web resources.

This is cool, I didn't know this was possible. Is there any way to get that information into a transform results window? Currently we use a lot of UnDP's but the results we display are all based on transformed results.

You can get the poller results into a transform pretty easily. See the "Transforming Poller Results > Creating a Poller Transformation" section in the same "Monitoring MIBs with Universal Device Pollers" chapter.

based on my screenshot how can I change the columns order?

I need the threshold to be at the end and the Location name to be at the begining.

How did you generate the initial table at the beginning of the post? I am relatively new to Orion, and have added the custom pollers and can transform the information, but an having a hard time trying to figure out how to get it in a nice table format.

You should be able when creating the poller to expand out the advanced options and choose get table. Hopefully this helps!
