Hi! Just wanna know if how to solve this issue: I have this error when running configuration wizard.. * Cannot change dependencies of 'NetPerfMonService' * Error starting Service (NetPerfMonService),Service NetPerfMonService not found on computer * Service could not be deleted * Could not install NPM service * Error stopping service "NetPerfMonService". Service did not stop in a timely manner. * Can not change dependencies of 'NetPerfMonService' * Error starting service "NetPerfMonService". Service did not start in a timely manner. And when connecting to ORION NPM "Cannot Connect to ORION" We already restarted the server and run configuration wizard but same error occured. Please advise on what to do..

Error in Configuration Wizard

Hi!

Just wanna know if how to solve this issue:

I have this error when running configuration wizard..

Cannot change dependencies of 'NetPerfMonService'
Error starting Service (NetPerfMonService),Service NetPerfMonService not found on computer

Service could not be deleted

Could not install NPM service
Error stopping service "NetPerfMonService". Service did not stop in a timely manner.
Can not change dependencies of 'NetPerfMonService'
Error starting service "NetPerfMonService". Service did not start in a timely manner.

And when connecting to ORION NPM

"Cannot Connect to ORION"

We already restarted the server and run configuration wizard but same error occured.

Please advise on what to do..

Hi elsaonita,

1. Open Orion Service Manager and monitor the SolarWinds Network Service.
2. Open Task Manager and select the Process tab. Show all process.
3. Start Configuration wizard and monitor the Orion Service Manager.
4. End the NetPerfMon.Service via task manager as soon as the Service goes into a stopping state.
5. You will have to keep monitoring this service since it will restart
6. Sometimes the Service brings an error and is deleted from the list. Dont panic, it has to be recreated again once the wizard completes.
Simply start the wizard again and select Services. Uncheck all Services except the Network Performance Service.

Please tell me this problem goes away in 9.5. It takes way too much concentration just to upgrade or apply a service pack. I guess I don't understand why the config wizard can't just kill the service itself or why it's necessary for the config wizard to start the service, then stop it immediately, in effect causing the problem twice during upgrade.

Same error still exists on the version 9.5....
