Setting the email alert The number of available licenses for SAM Components is low to 0?

How to modify the SolarWinds alerting email so that it only sends out an email when the license is reaching 0?

The number of available licenses for SAM Components is low.

Maximum licenses allowed for SAM Components: 5500.
Licenses currently in use: 4955.
Licenses currently available: 45.

Because it is legitimate and we want to use it all SAM licenses without getting any email alert.

It looks like that is the out-of-the-box Remaining Licenses alert. You can either just turn it off and rely on the notification in the web console when you reach maximum, or you can duplicate the alert and modify the threshold to 100% (default is 95%).

Note this will affect all licenses - not just SAM.

If you want a SAM specific one for 100%, you will need to split it into two alerts:

1. Duplicate the existing alert and add an exclusion for the SAM components (Remaining Licenses exc SAM)

2. Duplicate it again and filter it to just SAM and 100% (Remaining Licenses - SAM)

Edit Alert - "Remaining Licenses"

This is an out-of-the-box alert. You can only add Trigger/Reset actions or Time of Day settings for this alert. Conditions can't be changed.

Is there any risk or caveats when setting the threshold into 100%?

I wonder if there are any monitoring components that will be STOP working when the license reach 100%.
AFAIK, oversubscription or more than 100% is not possible even with the Application Monitor template, the last node will not be monitored.

Varies a bit on license. Some of the modules won't let you add past the license count and others will let you add the object but won't monitor / collect data from that object.

For SAM component licensing, if you go over the license count the components past the limit just won't poll at all and will show as "unlicensed". You'll also get a notification about running out of licenses.

The application monitors will show the components as Not Licensed and be in an Unknown state. I don't know how the system determines which application monitors to poll and which ones to unlicense - I just added some new monitors to push me over my lab limit and some of the older monitors stopped polling.
