Adding Resources on Multiple Nodes

Hi guys,

We are in the process of changing from WMI to Agent based polling (security reasons)

Apart from the fact it wipes the nodes history when doing this (please stop it) I have to manually reselect all their volumes, interfaces etc.  This is beyond workable.  We only have 1700+ Devices that this will effect but I want them managed now, not in 6 months.

Is there a quick way of doing this? I see that SAM 6.3 Beta has that facility, but who knows when this will be available.

Is there a SQL Guru that could help?

I would want by default -

Status and Response Time - Agent

CPU and Memory

   Volumes

All Fixed Disks (not floppy, CD or removable)

Physical Memory (not virtual)

Asset Information

If you can help you would save an IT Admin from going MAD.

Give this a try on a small section of nodes:

Swap 'em to agent based polling, then run a Network Discovery against these nodes, then import the new information en-masse.

If that does the job, you can do your work in sections, running the discovery on each batch as you go. If this doesn't work, you could simply assign the specific poller for each of your resources to your nodes from Manage Pollers, although I'd expect Discovery will have you covered.
