alert on packet loss during e.g. 1 minute

Hi,

Recently I installed the NPM software with the NTA plugin included. This is working fine but I'm facing some problems while configuring alerts.

Basically we have about 65 shops connected on a MPLS network. This is a quite stable network but it may happen that we loose 1 packet while polling the gateway in every shop.

This is not really a problem, because I'm polling (on icmp) every 10 seconds.

Thoug, when NPM doesn't get an answer during 1 minute (every 10 seconds so 6 pollings) => this indicates a real problem and I would like to have an alert on this.

Question : How can I configure this?

There is an option to set a treshold base on 'percent packet loss' but what does this mean? Is this a percent based on the latest 5 minutes of the latest 1000 pol or ... ?

If the percent packet loss is e.g. 30% of the latest 1000 pollings => it takes me in the worst case 166 minutes before 30% of the packets is lost...

Someone has an idea how to set an alert based on 100% packets loss during e.g. 1 minute ?

100% packet loss would mean the node is down, so you should get a down alert depending on how often you check the alert.

But in your alert you can set when it triggers the alert. So for "Do not trigger this action until condition exists for more than" ..... Set that for 1 minute and in your trigger alert, alert on the packet loss of something less than 100%.
