User Defined Links & Variables

I'm evaluating Orion, and therefore don't have access to the unsupported tools - I don't know if this issue is resolved using a plugin. I'm using 6.4.
I want to put a user defined link on a node details page, with a link to an 'external' site, passing the node ID in the URL (e.g. otherurl/otherpage.asp&NetObject=N:1) I haven't been able to specify a variable in the link, and cannot determine where this resource is stored (i.e. in the NetPerfMon database or elsewhere.)
Anyone else had this requirement, and solved the problem?

You can add customized links in the node details page by editing the following file:
file name: 70-telnet.resource
path: \inetpub\solarwinds\netperfmon\resources\9-1-miscellaneous
