Folder Monitoring

Hi Friends,

I am trying to monitor the empty folder on a targeted server which was in secure zone from Orion Server which was in core Zone.First we tried with WMI and we got "directory not found" issue.But the Drive was already shared and gave full access for the service account to the foders.

i thought it may be port issue.But i am able to add the node with the same service account in WMI polling method.I am not able to access that folder from my Orion server too.

Now i am trying to monitor via agent but this time also i am getting the same error as "directory not found".So i telnet and tested the port from my ORION server but i am not able to telnet the port 17778/17790 from ORION server but able to install agent software on the targeted server

i am confused and i do not know where i am missing.Please help me on priority

You may have already tried these steps, and based on the phrasing I cannot tell if you are using and agent or not, my guess is agent in passive mode meaning that the Orion Server talks initiates communication with the solar winds agent port 17790.

1. the out bound and inbound local host fw ports need to be open for 17790. If using wmi there are several ports the initial port and then OS has a wide range.

2. check agent status and see if a plugin is missing or agent show reboot pending or some other anomaly.

That is where I would start.

i am using below VBScript script on template "File Count Script" to monitor the folder in targeted server in Orion web-console.I need to know whether it is safe to use the script for folder monitoring.While will have only access the folder.
