How to Export Orion NPM Data to Ciscoworks

Hi,

I have Orion NPM 8.5.1 installed on the same Server with Ciscoworks 2000. I am having problem exporting Orion database to Ciscoworks.

Under the common services Bulk Import tool in Ciscoworks, I only saw import sources for HP Openview, Netview & ACS. I also tried importing from a CSV file. On Orion I exported my devices to a CSV file and when I attempt importing the same file into Ciscoworks, I got "invalid file format error".

My goal is to avoid entering all my devices manually on the Ciscoworks, I want Orion to discover the devices and I can bulk-import them to Ciscoworks.

This is really a question for Cisco regarding the CiscoWorks import process - rather than SolarWinds, but I'll attempt to help.

As you have seen, CiscoWorks provides only a limited import capability.

I think the best option is to manually add a single device to Ciscoworks (with the logon information, snmp strings etc) and then perform an export (using the provided csv file option).

This file should then at least show you the required format for any Ciscoworks import (including the correct column headings.

You should then be able to source the required information (in the correct format) from the Solarwinds database with a few SQL queries.

Thanks, that appears to be my inly option. I did tried it and it works fine.

I have tried this solution as earlier suggested by another user, the version 2 works ok but I keep getting error messages with version 3; I think I will settle for version 2.
