support for 2008 server and IIS7

I am trying to install an additional web server and it was going to be on a VM box running windows 2008 server and IIS7. It appears that is not supported as the install indicated there was no IIS installed.
What is the prognosis for this support?

We don't currently support installing Orion on Windows 2008. The changes between IIS6 and IIS7 were pretty significant. I don't have any specific dates, but it is something we're definitely looking at for the next major version of Orion.

We almost have a working solution this side (remember this is unsupported though);

You will need to install the following 'SQL on 2008 server' fix (for SQL2005 to appear)

You will need to use the Online Key server to register the application

I manually installed SQLExpress (but this was also to assist a database migrate, *4Gb database limit*)

In Administrative Tools / Server Manager; Roles / IIS WebServer (IIS 7), Select all in 'Application Development' and 'IIS 6 Management Compatibility' as well as basic and Windows authentication.(Hint: Click Add role services). Windows will suggest and add a few extras.

From IIS Manager (start/run ''inetmgr''), under <server>sites/SolarWinds.. advanced settings change 'Enable 32 bit apps' to true (or change the default application pool to 'Classic .NET application')

You will need to use the Orion Configuration Wizard to re-install if already done,or it should install from here without issues.

Only 1 or 2 basic panels are working, all others drop out with;

Cannot start SolarWinds Orion NPM Web Engine (OrionNPMWeb.Application).

Error Number 424
Object required

(Likely a port/pipe permission issue)

It looks like although services are configured and running, they are not logging.

Most of this was derived from people trying to get PHP working under IIS7.

** There is also an IIS6 to IIS7 migration tool, but you may wish to first read EVERYTHING about it before corrupting your working website.

Would appreciate knowing if anyone can take it any further.

Looks like I am adding myself to the list of people that are trying to get this installed onto 2008 and IIS. Is the issue simply IIS7? Since I am not using IIS for anything other than Solar Winds, should/Could I just downgrade to IIS6?

Any idea when the next Orion might come out? Is this typically a late in the year release product or early?
