Strange problem, NPM Poller 7.8.5

Hi all,

I am running Orion on a windows 2003 Server edition. I have 3 NIC cards

1. carrying an IP for the orion server to by managed by HP servers management solution.

2. carrying an IP from a private subnet in my network that contains switches i am monitoring using Orion

3. carrying an IP to enable me to access orion web interface and to monitor the reset of the network (DMZ).

I noticed that some of the nodes monitored belonging to DMZ appear unreachable for a couple of mins and then the back reachable.

Is there a way the the setup on the network cards affect the accuracy of the poller? in other words, it uses randomly NIC cards to poll the nodes in the network!

If so, is there a way to limit the poller to use a specific network cards or specific IPs.

What version of Orion are you running on your server?
There was an issue in earlier versions with missed polling on the locally connected LAN subnet.
You can do a search in these forums for more info on this.

Orion relies upon the routing table within the Windows IP stack to make decisions like which NIC to use when polling devices. To force Orion to use a specific NIC, you would alter the routing table so that traffic destined for those specific monitored devices leaves via that network interface card.

I had the same issue. There is a way to solve it, depending on how your server is set up:
