Newbie help...Member Is in warning state.

I'm new here on Thwack, and also with using NPM. It's quite a versatile tool, but I just don't know all of the in's and out's yet and I could use some help.

I have a lot of my devices set up in NPM, and am getting a lot of good statistical data. Every once and a while though, a router (sometimes 2) will go into

"warning state" which throws the group into a "warning state". It recovers by itself, but I cannot figure out why it was in that state to begin with.

I check router logs, Interface stats, etc. and nothing tells me there is any problem. Where in NPM will it tell me what was causing the "warning state" to begin with?

You could start by looking at the Events view under the Home tab. Pull the network object pull down menu and find the device in question. It should list the events that could have caused the device to go to warning.

Thanks for taking pity on me :-). I have reviewed the events tab and went to look for the object in question in the Network Object pull-down menu but it doesn't appear.

The odd thing is that there are 2 events in the event window that reference that object. I can't figure it out. Here is what I am seeing:

	10/1/2012 5:02 PM		Group PV SPRING ST. -- HS / PH / CS is Up.
	10/1/2012 4:58 PM		Group PV SPRING ST. -- HS / PH / CS is in a Warning state due to member status. spring084001_r.tcp is in a Warning state.

The object in question is spring084001_r.tcp

It says it went into warning state. I went to look for the object in the list but it is not there. How can that be when it plainly says that it is in a warning state?

Strange indeed. What kind of object is that? Is it a interface or a component from a SAM template?

Go to that actual device and see what it is. These are the events from the Group the device belongs to, and are only telling you that a member of the group is having an issue. It's not telling you what component/interface/volume that is causing spring084001_r.tcp to go into a warning state. Drill into that specific device and see what it is doing to cause the warning state that trickles up to the group it belongs to..

The only thing that comes to mind from the name spring084001_r.tcp is the Spring framework used in Java.
