VIP Controller Monitoring??

Hello;

Besides router CPU utilization, it is important to know what the VIP controller CPU is doing (on a Cisco 7500 series router), especially during DOS attacks, etc..

I get this number from the CLI by typing:

show controllers vip x proc cpu

where "x" is the slot # of the VIP.

Is there a way to get this using SNMP/Orion?

Hello nocman,

Not at this time. However, the kids at SW are busy working on custom MIB support. When they have this finished you will be able to monitor most vendor specific details.

I has been several years since this post but it looks like Orion still doens't do anything to monitor the CPU onthe VIP controllers in a Cisco device, is that correct?

Now we do have the UnDP available to write a custom poller for this; however, the way Cisco presents this information via SNMP makes it difficult to work with.
