Stop Alerts During Maintenance

Hi,

Is there a way to stop alerts from triggering when doing a maintenance? I've tried pausing the alerts before the maintenance, but when I resume the alerts after the maintenance is complete I get a flood. I would rather not unmanage all my nodes because(and correct me if I am wrong) then when I go to re-enable them by selecting all, couldn't that enable devices that were manually unmanaged?

If you are using the "Pause actions of all alerts" function under All Active Alerts, you'll need to give your monitors some time to poll and go into an Up status, before you deselect the pause option.

Basically if you pause actions at say 10am, and do your maintenance, and maintenance completes at 11am, you would want to wait until at least 11:05AM prior to unpausing (depending on how frequently you are polling). Easiest way to avoid a flood of alerts is to check the All Active Alerts window until there aren't any showing as active, then unpause, you shouldn't get a flood of alerts.

As an aside, I wouldn't recommend using the "Pause actions of all alerts" unless you are doing some maintenance that would affect communications between all your pollers and your monitored nodes. Because you are effectively blind from a paging/alerting perspective (except looking at the All Active Alerts resource). Much safer to just mute the nodes affected by maintenance as others have described how to do in this thread
