Maintenance Windows

Maybe I'm losing it here, but is there nowhere in this application is there the ability to create a maintenance window to supress alerting for a system according to a schedule?

I see this unmanage feature, and that it can automatically re-manage after some time, but how to schedule this?

Not a global setting as of yet but you can use the Time of Day tab within the Advanced Alerts editing tab- to have your alerts not be triggered between certain hours.

so for every server requiring a maintenance window i'm going to need a custom alert setup? and if it reboots twice a day we need two more alerts?

I have the same issue of not being able to set up a suppression for time of the day. I have a service that is restarted by a cron every day at 10am and 2pm. I would like to have the ability to set up an advanced alert suppression for process name and ToD. This would be the same concept as a maintenance window. I can add the process name, but can't add the ToD info to the alert suppresion. The best I can do now is to not fire the trigger for the time frame it takes the process to restart. This, however, delays alerting on any process on the server.

Similar issue with our AD servers.
We establish our Window server maintenance time-frames by OU using GPO. To date, our operations' department ignore the false-positive alerts.

What would be helpful is the addition of programmable fields within the node or through the use of a Node Custom Property to restrict variable alerts.

This will stop alerts, which is helpful. But another issue with not having a maintenance window feature in the program is that when you take servers down (or the switches connecting to the servers) during the window, it counts against your up-time numbers. Since outages during a window don't count against our up-time for our business reports, our numbers always look worse than they really are.

That would be a really nice feature to have. It's generally not good to have to tell your upper management not to trust the reporting numbers coming from your monitoring system. They either think that you're trying to pull something, or wonder what's up with the monitoring software that we're using.

Is there a more elegant solution to this yet? This is a pretty hokey/ half-baked way to schedule maintenance on certain devices. It seems odd that the other Solarwinds products can do this but NPM cannot. Is this a sign that the product is going away?

There now is a unmanage scheduler whcih you can download under additional tools in your customer portal if you have version 10 (i heard its not supposed to work under 9.X) if you have v10.1 or newer, this unmanage utility should come with the installation under SolarWinds Orion -> Advanced Features.
