SQL Database For Orion 9.5 (eval)

Question

Hello,

I've downloaded Orion 9.5 (eval).  When I tried to install it fails because there was no SQL 2005 Server SP1 installed on my local server.  I have a remote SQL Server that I want to use as the database thus the reasoning.  Does Orion 9.5 (eval) support installation with remote SQL database?

Hard to diagnose without seeing the error.  We also ship our evaluations with SQL Express if you want to trial Orion without messing with a formal SQL server.  If you want to use an external SQL server, best to open a support ticket to look into

So, what would be causing the installation to abort if a remote SQL server is supported?

It certainly does, and in fact we recommend having SQL and Orion on separate boxes -- even a dedicated SQL box just for the Orion DB if you have a large installation. Check out the Requirements and Server Sizing sections of the Administrator Guide to see what's involved.
