Help with Node Grouping in the Node Tree

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to figure out how to group nodes so they appear like we want them in the nodes tree on the main page of NPM. Currently the default grouping is Vendor, Status, Machine Type. However I'd like to add groups like Internet Routers and Core Switches so the tree hierarchy would be something to the tune of: Device Function (Core Switch or Internet Router) then Vendor, then Status. How can I add the custom Internet Routers and Core Switch groups to reflect this?

If you have a custom property DeviceFunction and it's populated with Core Switch or Internet Router then

make your three levels 1) Device Function then 2) Vendor then  3) Status

Steps

1. Clicking Edit allows you to edit the All Nodes - Tree Resource Title and group displayed nodes into three levels, using any of the following node properties:
   • Note: Any custom properties defined for nodes will also be listed as grouping criteria.
     • Status
     • Vendor
     • Machine Type
     • Contact
     • Location
     • IOS Image
     • IOS Version
     • IP Version
     • Object Sub-Type
     • System OID
     • City
     • Comments
     • Department
2. Nodes that report null values for the selected grouping property may either be collected in a group designated as [Unknown] or be listed outside of any group at the bottom of the node list. Select either of the following options to Put nodes with null values for the grouping property:
   • In the [Unknown] group (This is the default option.)
   • At the bottom of the list, in no group
3. If you want to retain an expanded tree when you leave the view on which the All Nodes resource you are configuring is located, select Remember Expanded Groups.
4. You can also enable optional filters using SQL queries to limit the displayed node list. For more information about filtering with SQL queries, see “Using Filters”.
5. When you are finished editing the resource, click Submit
