Performance Monitor Webpage SLOW!

Hello,

First off I am a Cisco guy, not a server guy so don't be afraid to blame me or my server and not solarwinds. I have about 300 devices on this particular network and am monitoring only active interfaces. The server's CPU rarely gets over 25% taskings from any one process. The total CPU useage averages about 20%. NetPerfMon service will NOT utilize over 25% of the CPU. When I am on the server going to its own webpage it takes about 3 minutes to display the top ten. Accessing the site from a remote PC yeilds the same results so this is not a network latency issue. I have tried to change the priority of the solarwinds processes in the taskmanager to high and it will not let me even though I am an admin on the box. This server is only used for solarwinds applications. Does anyone know of a way to speed this up? Is the fact that processor usage is limited due to solarwinds or a setting on the server? I could understand it being slow if the processor was tapped out but it barely affects the CPU load when you click on the top ten section or any other section for that matter. Thanks and please let me know what I left out.

Server Specs....

Dell 2650 w/dual 2.8Ghz, 3GB ram, win 2003 server (standard) - fresh install

Orion 9.0 SP1, Application Monitor, Wireless Monitor, LAN Surveyor, Engineers toolset.

Hi, I'm seeing the same

Running Orion 9,0, App Monitor SLX

Server is Spec is Quad 2.4 AMD Opteron 850 (DL585) 6Mb Windows Enterprise 2003 SP1

Network Nodes 870 / Interface Elements 3213 and Volume Elements 3015.

System Manager seems fine but the Web interface is painfully slow when logging in and going to different nodes. It's making it quite unworkable at the moment. Only have 2 to 3 people running web interface. Server CPU is not heavily used

Perfomance does seem to have dropped since 8.5.1sp3

Mine is SLX also if it even matters. 8.5.1 was definitely much faster!

Hey, folks. We appreciate the feedback. Can you give us a little more detail?

Which page or pages?
If one page is slow, can you try to detach each resource (by clicking on the name) to see if it's one particular resource that's slowing you down?

All pages are slow on mine. The top ten is just the worst. If you click on a device it takes a long time also. The whole 9.0 package seems to not allow itself any CPU time. None of the processes will ever use over 25%. While loading the top ten page the cpu load on dllhost.exe goes up for a second and then stays at 0% and then a little while later the page loads. Even listing resources in system manager is slower than it used to be. Expanding interface trees is slower also. I don't really understand the second question. Sorry...

Edit: Also w3wp.exe is taking up 200MB of memory but rarely goes above 3% when you are trying to load a page.

When logging in is a major problem for me.

I detached all my resources and the following where very slow Network Wide Availability (loaded quicker the 2nd time I detached) and Advanced Syslog Summary (very very slow. Takes minutes to load).I assume becasue the syslog database is quite large now thinking about.

Last 25 Application events took a little time but not bad.

I've now removed the Advanced Syslog summary and Network Wide availability and my response times are much improved. Will also now do through my detail page and see if any of my custom properties causing a problem.
