Monitoring Windows Servers

Hi all,

I have been asked to add all our network servers to Orion and was wondering a couple things.

1) They reboot these things all the time for patch updates. How do you handle that with alerts? Most of the time these are scheduled at diferent times througout the morning and they don't want paged on an intentional reboot. These are automatic reboots so I'm not sure if I should just shut off the reboot alerts between 1am and 4am....just looking for ideas.

2) What cool things can you watch on a SQL and Exchange server with Orion...besides the standard volumes, cpu and memory?

You could set the alert to only check the alert req. every 10 mins or so...would vary depending on how long a server took to reboot.

You could also add another alert that is specifically for Windows nodes and have it or the alert action only active between 4am and 12:59am.

If you have the Application Performance Monitor there are some application templates that will be very helpful.

Are there any OID's I can watch on a SQL or Exchange server that might be useful? (I don't have APM....yet)
