Port usage over time

Hi,has

I'm trying to to produce a report (per device) on the the status of ports over a fixed period of time, basically need to start removing cables from unused ports however everything I try does not work (error messages about time field being invalid) or if following other people fields seem to have been removed from the options has anybody done this recently ?, last 6 months or so.

Hi Scott,

When looking at physical ports instead of interfaces you are better of with the module called User Device Tracker. It even has a preconfigured report showing ports that aren't being used and the last time they've been active:

Just to be certain: are you reading posts from people who have User Device Tracker (UDT) rather than NPM? That is the purpose-built solution SolarWinds has for port usage tracking.

How to create a report displaying the Last Time Data was Transmitted or Received on a Switch Port

UDT is better at it, cleaner...but the above gets you a quick and dirty report over time.

We have UDT but with over 400 switches registered I only want a report that I can select which switch not one that cannot be edited which you cant (as I understand it) with the pre-canned UDT report.

Thanks for the link however Solarwinds in their infinite wisdom removed some of the fields namely the "physical interface" field. So that doesnt work.
