Exchange 2010 Database failover monitor

I want to say thanks for all the Exchange 2010 monitors out there.

I really need a way to monitor our Exchange 2010 database to alert on failover to a passive node. We have had occasions where a database will failover to one of our 3 Exchange 2010 mailbox database stores and we were unaware that this had happened.

Is there a script or something that can be run in APM that will monitor the Exchange databases?

I know I could alert on this once I have a monitor in place but so far all the Exchange 2010 monitors do not do this.

Does nobody out here use Exchange 2010 and had on occasion the database failover to the secondary node and not been aware that some mailboxes were not on the database for the secondary node?

If you do not monitor this what are you monitoring or using that would make you aware of this fialover?

I really need to have something that will monitor this action in Exchange 2010.

Happens to us on 2007. We need something to catch this as well.

Aren't there specific event IDs that get logged when this happens? If so, it sounds like the Windows Event Log Monitor might fit the bill.

I need APM to catch this so that I can alert off of it.

It would help if thos replying would be a little more specific in the reply other than this can do it.

How you would set up monitoring and alerting from your answer would be a good reply.

It goes back to what qle said. Do you get events in your windows event log that would tell you if a failover happened?

This may be something best to ask in the Microsoft Exchange Server support forum. If someone will know what trackable/traceable events are generated when Exchange decides to failover, it'll be someone there (because if you knew what signs to look for, you could figure out a way to make APM alert on it).

Have you looked at the Exchange Database Availability Group template posted in the content exchange?
