nodes not added using Bulk Import

How can I verify the results of a bulk node addition in Orion 9.5?

Specifically, I added a list of 246 new IP addresses. I clicked the Validate button. What are the possible responses I can get from the validation? If I get no feedback does that supposedly mean that all nodes were successfully contacted by SNMP?

The result of the discovery was that only 65 nodes were added of the 246 in the list. Is there a log that I can examine that will tell me what happened to the nodes that were not added?

Hi,

The Validate button breaks your list into chunks of 5 at a time and validates if each item in your list is a valid IP address or resolvable DNS name.

When this process is complete, it will show a message by the button like "Unable to resolve: my-bad-server-name". When all is well with the IP list, it shows nothing. We have added a "Validation Completed Successfully" message in the next version, but in 9.5, no news is good news.

Depending on the options you have selected (SNMP only or not) the list you get back will show ICMP only nodes in the Unknown category and SNMP nodes with recongized vendors in their individual vendor categories.

The import preview page shows you this list prior to importing. Anything in your bulk list that is not in this list did not respond to ICMP nor SNMP.

Currently, we have no readable log file that keeps track of the nodes that did not respond to ICMP or SNMP.

Can we make the production of a list of which addresses did not respond to ICMP and/or SNMP an official feature request please?
