OrionWebBackup compatibility (backup from NPM 10.5 restore to NPM 11.0.1)

Hi All,

I don't know if some one did the same action before or not? I did a web backup from NPM 10.5 and restore it with merge option to NPM 11.0.1 in order to avoid recreating all accounts and customized views, but when testing the users cannot get the menu bar displayed and no menu options available on the account settings.

Also the SAM menu links seem to be overlapping.

Is there any compatibility problem between to both version regarding the webconfig?

Hi,

For sure the web backup not designed to be used across different versions, but there is a workarround solution!!!

First I did try the backup from NPM 10.5 usage on the 11.0.1, the account part is not compatible: accounts imported by no way to modify attributes and no menu bar displayed when logged in.

The workarround was by editing the xml file generated by the web backup and exctract account list and password for manual re creation and use the fileds related to views to create an xml file that was merged on the 11.0.1 using the web backup tool.

The Orion Web Backup was not designed to be utilized across different versions. The Backup utility is only tested to work on the same version when the Configuration Wizard calls it for use.

If so, the only way is to upgrade the originating NPM to 11.0 and then backup the webconfig? is SQL tables structure similar so we can export the views and accounts from DB and insert them in the target server??
