Upgrading to v10 with a fresh install?

I am curious if it's possible to move to Orion v10 with a fresh install versus upgrading an already existing system?

We currently use Orion NPM & APM and want to upgrade to v10. Our current system was our first Windws 2008 system and we have learned a lot since building it. Because of this we feel that it would be prudent to just do a fresh install of Windows 2008 and Orion v10 and connect it to our current database.

Is it possible to do a fresh install of Orion v10 and connect it to an existing Orion database?

Yes, this is possible, provided, like any other install, your new system meets the Requirements, specifically the Orion NPM Server Requirements, stated in the Orion NPM Administrator Guide.

If I do this are there settings/configurations that are not stored in the database that I should expect to loose?

Also, I just downloaded the Upgrade Instructions for v10 in the customer portal; however, it seems that they have not been updated since 9.5.1. Am I missing something here?

I am actually updating these docs "as we speak". They should post either later today or on Monday. The long and the short of it is that an upgrade to 10.0 is conducted almost exactly as an upgrade to 9.5.1 would proceed. 10.0 includes a couple of items in the installer that make it a little easier, actually.

Do you have any feedback on my other question regarding what settings/configurations I might loose if I d a fresh v10 install and connect it to my current DB? I am guessing that there are settings that are not stored in the DB but I don't know what those are (other than reports).
