We're doing some research around Cisco's Nexus platform. To accomplish our research, we need some data from production Nexus devices. We're specifically interested in Nexus 7K and 5Ks with attached FEX. If you have one or several of these devices you're eligible. Perform the following data gather steps to earn 2,000 Thwack points:
Thanks very much!
cobrien serena photos don't load, but I've got two sets of 7k -> dual 5ks -> FEX (2 physical locations). I ran the CLI stuff for you and also did the SNMPWalk on each of the two 7K's. Just uploaded.
I've tried the snmp walk previously; it always errors out after about 40,000 lines of response. The error suggests a security limitation has been reached. Perhaps Cisco doesn't want folks to do full MIB walks?
Any suggestions for getting around this limitation?
I uploaded the CLI data but had the same issue with the walk. See below the error message from SNMP walk. I think some of the OIDs are not customer accessible. I got to 88600 before it crashed.
Fixed photos. I copy pasted the images in and it just used links to our internal wiki which actually render properly for anyone at SolarWinds, so I didn't see the problem!
Points should be arriving shortly. Thanks!
That's exactly what my snmp walk ran into after ~40,000 hits.
I dare to ask, but do you guys have more than say, 20-30 fex's? Pure speculation but curious. I think we had somewhere in that realm and it didn't error out. Also: SNMPv2 (laughably/sadly).
also realized I neglected to include same details for 5K's, so that'll be uploaded shortly. One set of 5K's complete.
SNMPv3 and crashed around 43xxx, but I saved the file and got the command line and uploaded.
Can you try polling these separately?
SNMPv2-MIB:system OID: 1.3.6.1.2.1.1
IF-MIB:interfaces: OID: 1.3.6.1.2.1.2
IF-MIB:ifMIB OID: 1.3.6.1.2.1.31
RFC1213-MIB:ip OID: 1.3.6.1.2.1.4
ENTITY-MIB:entityMIB OID: 1.3.6.1.2.1.47
ciscoMgmt OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9
I know you requested N7 or N5 with FEX, but I uploaded N9396 with FEX...sorry, all I got for you.
I uploaded a file (5K 2000), but can't get the snmpwalk to run, it times out. I also tried polling separately with the OID's above with the same results.
We have just twenty-one FEXes in this ACI deployment.
Maybe the problem we're running into with OID's listed stopping at ~40,000 is we use snmp-v3.
Seems that way
Files uploaded - similar issue with the SNMPwalk (albeit after nearly 200000 lines) but it does include the OID's listed above ..
We've got a pair of 5548s connected to 17 FEX units.
We're running snmpv3 and I get the same error here at 96210.
I've uploaded the CLI and the SNMPWalk output.
I hope it's of use
Uploaded files... I received a couple of security errors when running the SNMPwalk so if I'm missing something, please feel free to let me know.
Send a couple of 5Ks
Just uploaded a MIB walk and Putty output from our Nexus 5672.
Uploaded both files from our Nexus 7710.
Just uploaded both files from our Nexus 5Ks. 12 FEXs.
just uploaded both files for 2 nexus 5k's
Just uploaded 2 7ks with 8 attached FEXs. We have 5ks and 9ks but no FEXs on those.
I just uploaded the CLI file and snmpwalk for a Nexus 5K.
Uploading my 9K's and 5K's.... enjoy :-)
Files Uploaded 5K and 7K.
I've just uploaded SNMP Walk and session trace log files of our Nexus 5672 with a couple of FEXes. Looking forward to better support of Cisco Nexus devices in Solarwinds products.
Uploaded the putty.log and snmpwalk files. I had a few security errors on the SNMPWALK as experienced by other users as well.
If we can get something like in the hardware section this without having to manually select all of the fields it would be good. A separate section for the 7k/9k itself and another one for the FEX. Basically the status for the different modules.
We are currently trying to get this info onto a email report but having some issues. Its kind of convoluted to put it together as it sits now.
Just dropped off 2 files for your review. I have 6 5ks (with Fex's) and 4 7010's if you need more. (we are a big cisco shop.)
cobrien - Uploaded file from our single 7009. Let me know if it has everything you need.
I have uploaded files for N5K. Had similar time-out issues as seen in previous comments.
I have a bunch of FEX attached to my nexus. Uploading what I've got.
Uploaded output files from Nexus 5K with 2 Fexes
uploaded output of 1Nex5k with 1FEX
Sent the SNMP walk of Nexus 5k and Nexus 7k via email
SNMP walks and the PuTTY logs have been uploaded for both 5ks (with attached FEXes) and 7ks.
Uploaded 4 x 5K SNMP Walks and 4 x Putty Logs zipped to filename cisco.zip.
Hope there useful, Thanks
Thanks so much for all the uploads so far. The Dev team is devouring them.
So far it appears we have not received any uploads for a Nexus running multiple VDCs. If you have one, we'd love the upload. If you already uploaded a device that has multiple VDCs, please let me know and we will dig deeper as to why we're not detecting it. Thanks!
cobrien sent you a DM. My Nexus has 4 VDCs besides the Administrative one.
I had 100,000+ on our 5596...
