Foundry Brocade Temperature Report

Greetings,

I am new to Orion and the networking department where I am interning. A task that I would like to complete is the ability to generate a report/graph through the NPM that shows ambient temperature of our foundry brocade switches. Does Solarwinds have this capability? If so how can I access and build this report?

Any guidance you can offer would be helpful. Pretend you are writing in a "For Dummies" book if you would please.

Hi,

you can create Universal device poller(use application in Start menu) that get the information from the device.

- To do that you need to know the OID(like address) of the data, where device makes it available. OID looks like "1.3.6.1.2.1.1.5", this particular provide information about System name (hostname).

- You will need to contact device vendor or search to get the exact OID of temperature. You may also look in "Browse MIB Tree".

- Assign it to node, from which you want to get the data.

- To display it on the web you can mark checkbox in Chart, Gauge or Table column in "Node details - Summary page" row. It will be available on the bottom of the page of the node that you have assigned it to.

- Also you may right click on already created poller and select "Web Display".

I would also like to know this as well. We have around 40 MLX's and Solarwinds doesn't automatically pull in the temps like it does with Cisco.

I set up a UDP and it is now monitoring the device temperature. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get those temps displayed some place on my Orion Web view.
