Should NetPath "show" an F5 in the path?
I know that one of the applications that I would like to "see" is part of an F5 LTM environment but I do not see the F5.
Yes the F5 is monitored with Orion.
I this to be expected?
NetPath is for layer 3 ONLY.
If you can not see it in a traceroute, you can not see it NetPath.I am finding NetPath to be traceroute on steroids with active links into NPM,NCP, and NTA and very little more.
With this understood, I can better set what managements expects from this feature.
Thank You for your time in the replies.
From what I can tell most forms of traceroute and similar tools do not "see" load balancers, which makes sense given that the job of the load balancer is typically to make itself completely transparent to the end user trying to connect to the website. I would expect it is similar for Netpath as I've never seen a LB show up at a client site that I can remember.
The F5 is a full proxy. Netpath cannot work with this since the connections are terminated on the F5
Thank You - I was hoping that it was not true.
